In a midnight revelation, Taylor Swift thrilled fans with a surprise addition to her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department." Initially thought to be a single album, Swift revealed that "Tortured Poets" is actually a secret double album.
The standard version of the album, released on April 19, focuses on the aftermath of heartbreak. Swift explained on Instagram, "All that’s left behind is the tortured poetry." However, the additional 15 songs in the second part mark a new beginning. "Now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours," Swift wrote.
The Grammy-winning artist shared that she had spent two years crafting "TTPD," drawing inspiration from her personal experiences, including a breakup with actor Joe Alwyn. Speaking during her "Eras Tour" in Melbourne, Swift expressed, “The things I was going through, the things I was writing about, it reminded me why songwriting is something that gets me through my life.”
This new album also signifies a fresh era for Swift, with its evocative black-and-white cover art and literary-inspired aesthetic.
